'Following a great response to our presence at South West Sound
in 2005 and 2006 and being one of the main CD and DVD producers
in the SW of England, it felt right to continue supporting the
great work the team at Dartington do in organizing this event'
said Disc Manufacturing Services MD Dave Summers. He continued
'There is a huge amount of untapped musical talent in the SW and
this really gives everyone a sense that there is a credible music
industry down here. The wealth of knowledge brought in by specialist
speakers and workshops also helps the less experienced performers
discover exactly what they have to in order to be taken seriously
on the national and international scene. We hope our financial
and product based contribution will enable the event to grow and
it's our intention to work closely with the SWS team all year
round by helping release a series of singles and compilations
showcasing SW based artists'.
At the end of April 2007, hundreds of delegates from across
the region will come together in Bristol's Colston Hall and Devon's
Dartington Hall for the fourth year to develop their professional
skills and contacts, discuss new ideas and best practices, and
learn from expert music industry speakers that past years have
included Michael Evis promoter of Glastonbury Festival, Feargal
Sharkey of the Live Music Forum, Jazz Summers of Big Life Management
and Jon Webster of the BPI to name a few. In addition to the four-day
music conference there is also a host of other activities on offer,
including showcase gigs for local bands and artists, workshops,
seminars for young people, an artist management training and the
release of two compilation CD's...one on the cover of Music Week
and the other on the cover of Bristols Venue Magazine. South West
Sound is relevant to everyone working in music, at any stage of
their career, including musicians, educators, composers, promoters,
managers, engineers, producers, publishers and more.
